The San Antonio Area Running Club for Fun & Fitness!
President's Letter

On behalf of the members of the San Antonio RoadRunners (SARR), welcome to our site. The SARR was organized May 7, 1973, as a volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to the promotion of running for physical fitness, fellowship and fun. The club is affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), a national organization of running clubs dedicated to running and runners' rights. Each year the club awards scholarships to area runners with our race proceeds.

SARR promotes 23 events throughout the year, and is a partner with the YMCA and the city of San Antonio in the November San Antonio Marathon, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary. All club events are listed on this site and offer distances for everyone. To add to event competition, age group King and Queen of the Road awards are given at our June party. These are based on total placements in selected club races. Did I mention you must be an SARR member to gain points?

The San Antonio RoadRunners also publishes a monthly newsletter that includes race calendars, entry forms, results, training advice, and many other interesting articles. Joining the San Antonio RoadRunners gets you membership in the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), reduced entry fees to SARR races, discounts at San Antonio's two specialty running stores, and more. Individual annual dues are $15 ($5 per additional family member). As a volunteer group we really need your membership and help to continue our programs and goals to make San Antonio a city where growth and running can be teamed for everyone's benefit.

San Antonio offers running weather year round and if you are new here, or visiting us, please call me at (210) 286-6291 or by e-mail at wajb@gvtc.com for specific running sites or events. Our monthly Fun Runs, the first Saturday of each month, are a good place to meet and train with fellow runners. These are held at McAllister Park, located near the airport, which is a very popular runners’ site. The Al Becken Pavilion is where the local runners start from, and you will be welcomed there. Area specialty stores offer group runs from 3 to 20 miles throughout the week. If you can be here for Fiesta in April don't miss the Fiesta Mission 10K, or the Fiesta Flambeau Fandango Fun Run, preceding the spectacular night parade, where you can run with 100,000 spectators cheering you on.

San Antonio is a safe running town so bring your shoes and enjoy some great runs downtown or in our neighborhoods. Afterwards be sure to enjoy the Texas hospitality at our many restaurants and patio cafes. As president of San Antonio RoadRunners I welcome each and every one of you to your home page for San Antonio running. I hope you find these pages as entertaining and packed with information as I do. Look for me at the refreshment table.

Joan Bobrukiewiez.
President, SARR
