San Antonio offers running weather year
round and if you are new here, or visiting us, please call
me at (210) 286-6291 or by e-mail at wajb@gvtc.com for specific
running sites or events. Our monthly Fun Runs, the first
Saturday of each month, are a good place to meet and train
with fellow runners. These are held at McAllister Park,
located near the airport, which is a very popular runners’
site. The Al Becken Pavilion is where the local runners
start from, and you will be welcomed there. Area specialty
stores offer group runs from 3 to 20 miles throughout the
week. If you can be here for Fiesta in April don't miss
the Fiesta Mission 10K, or the Fiesta Flambeau Fandango
Fun Run, preceding the spectacular night parade, where you
can run with 100,000 spectators cheering you on.
San Antonio is a safe running town so bring
your shoes and enjoy some great runs downtown or in our
neighborhoods. Afterwards be sure to enjoy the Texas hospitality
at our many restaurants and patio cafes. As president of
San Antonio RoadRunners I welcome each and every one of
you to your home page for San Antonio running. I hope you
find these pages as entertaining and packed with information
as I do. Look for me at the refreshment table.
Joan Bobrukiewiez.
